As expected, many Democrats have lost whatever minimal sanity they had left over the United States’ strikes on Iran, arguing that this military action constitutes a “war” and calling it one “of choice.” They are also whining that President Trump and the Department of War are not disclosing every detail about Operation Epic Fury, as though that is standard operating procedure during an ongoing military conflict (Spoiler: it is not, and for good reason).
The backlash comes despite the fact that previous Democratic presidents and some leftist members of Congress have, at various times, taken a tough stance on Iran, addressing its nuclear ambitions and its long-standing role as the primary state sponsor of terrorism in the region.
One Democrat who has maintained a clear perspective on Iran is Senator John Fetterman. In mid-March, he emphasized the importance of recognizing the threats posed by Iran: “I would just like to remind everybody watching that every single Democratic presidential candidate always identified that Iran is a top, top security issue, and every single Democrat in the Senate and in the House says we can never allow Iran to acquire a nuclear bomb.”
What is causing the uproar among Democrats regarding Trump’s actions? It boils down to what some is their out-of-control Trump Derangement Syndrome. A notable example is former Vice President Kamala Harris, who is rumored to be considering a presidential run in 2028.
On Tuesday, Harris reentered the chat room regarding the situation in Iran, offering her perspective on Trump’s 8 PM Eastern Time deadline for reopening the Strait of Hormuz. Trump has warned that if this deadline isn’t met, “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again.”
The failed vice president who was wiped off the map by Trump in 2024 had these nuggets of wisdom to offer:
The President of the United States is threatening to commit war crimes and wipe out a “whole civilization” — all because he started a disastrous war of his own making and had no plan and no strategy for how to end it.
This is abhorrent, and the American people do not support this.
Trump’s recklessness is needlessly putting our brave service members in harm’s way, destroying America’s global standing, and making life even more unaffordable for the American people.
We must all stand against this and oppose funding this illegal war of choice.
Like most Democrats, Harris is aware that Trump did not literally mean the entire country and its people. However, in an effort to present themselves as true experts on Iran and foreign policy, and to undermine both him and America by portraying him as deranged, this is the best she could come up with.
Unfortunately for her, though, evidence has emerged that highlights her previous stances on Iran, including positions she took after her party nominated her and kicked brain-dead Biden to the curb:

This is Kamala Harris in 2024:
“Iran is our biggest advisory”
“What we need to do, to ensure that Iran never achieves the ability to be a nuclear power, is my highest priority”

Does Harris really believe that she would have handled Iran better than Trump if she had become president, in a way that befits the leader of the free world? As my colleagues and others have pointed out, if a Democrat had been in office after 2024, Iran would be much closer to developing a nuclear weapon capable of striking the U.S. There would also still be Israelis held hostage in Gaza by Hamas terrorists. Furthermore, narco-terrorist ringleader Nicolás Maduro would continue to be the unelected dictator of Venezuela.
I look at it this way: Whenever a Democrat speaks on this issue, they only remind people why a Democrat should never lead this country again.
