Oops: Democrats Who Supported the Nazi Guy In the Maine Senate Race Will Hate This New Poll

Democrats debased themselves – again – when most of them threw in with a guy sporting a Nazi tattoo and enough political baggage regarding women and rape to have sank any candidate just a few years ago. Why did they do that? Well, Graham Platner was reportedly well ahead of incumbent GOP Sen. Susan Collins, according to polling a few weeks back.

But then a thing happened. President Trump publicly endorsed Collins, while acknowledging their political differences, and, well, Democrats have to be experiencing some buyer’s remorse right about now.

Whereas Platner was remarkably leading Collins by about 7 points as June rolled around, now he is in a statistical tie with Collins:

The Maine Senate race has moved from an early Democratic advantage to a statistical tie. Platner led Collins by 7 points in our March survey, but now leads by just 1. Collins remains deeply underwater, yet she is running ahead of the Republican brand in a state where Democrats lead the generic ballot by 10. Platner’s standing has softened amid recent controversies, and the race remains highly competitive and unsettled.

Note that Platner, leading Collins 46-45 percent, is polling worse in the state than a generic Democrat candidate. Ouch. Guess enough Mainers do care about support for Hitler’s Third Reich.

Still, the fact that this anti-woman bigot is polling as well as he is tells you exactly where the Democrat brand is right now. It’s voters are so bankrupt and desperate for power they will literally support one of the worst human beings on the planet if it leads to a victory.

Bottom line: Let’s not suffer anymore sanctimonious, self-righteous lecturing from Democrats about how they’re the party of morality and adulting. Enough of that.
